Quater Vitis Rosso

Quater Vitis Rosso discloses the Sicily of wine in a glass. Refined blend of native Sicilian grapes such as Nero d’Avola, Perricone, Frappato and Nerello Cappuccio, this red with a structured and enveloping character offers the pleasure to appreciate both the varied ampelography of the island but also discover all the charm of two distinct terroirs : Etna and the countryside of Trapani.

The four Cru of the Red Quater Vitis follow single harvests and vinifications. Wines are subjected to meticulous tastings that certify the right level of aging, to then be assembled in a single cuvée, left to aging in French and American oak for almost a year and then in the bottle for about 5 months.

Nero d'Avola

The undisputed prince of Sicilian red grape varieties, the fame of this grape has reached the four corners of the globe. A versatile vine with significant intravarietal variability, it is widespread throughout Sicily. Given its peculiar intrinsic characteristics, it is able to read the terroir of origin, transporting the faithful portrait of the territory where it is raised and giving the palate a kaleidoscopic picture of the Sicilian air conditioning.
The Wine presents notes of ripe red fruit, with a slight spicy note with a good tannic structure.

Perricone

In the last twenty years, Firriato has chosen to invest in the reintroduction of Perricone, based on agronomic and phenological studies that prove how this native variety, thanks to its highly vigorous and adaptive morphological characteristics, is suitable for planting in the pedoclimatic areas inside the Mediterranean strip. Local grape variety, its vinegrowing area is limited to western Sicily, an area of the island, best known for the production of whites.
The peculiar pedological characteristics that emerged during the zoning process for identifying the best parcel destined to accommodate this variety revealed that it is a predominantly clayey soil with a semi-dry climate, the one suitable for the optimal cultivation of Perricone. It is the land of the Cuddìa plateau estate, in the heart of the Trapani area, offering the perfect variables for the excellent vegetative development of the Perricone.
The wine has an intense ruby red color, with a variegated bouquet that enhances the fruity and spicy scents.

Frappato

The place of origin of the Frappato seems to be Ragusa. However, Firriato managed to revive this variety in the estates of Borgo Guarini and Baglio Sorìa, in the Trapani countryside, obtaining a high quality wine with an intense ruby red color, full bodied and rightly tannic. The aromas are fruity and with slightly spicy notes, typical of vines with this particular aromatic outfit defined as “peppered vein”.

Nerello Cappuccio

Variety etnea, the Nerello cappuccio, belongs to the Nerelli family. Growing up, the crown of this particular variety goes to “hood” the grapes, covering them completely.
The resulting glass is a pure expression of the inhospitable and rich in organic substances of Etna, the most active volcano in Europe.
The wine has a ruby red color of high quality and pleasant taste, known for its moderate tannic vein and great harmony.
